Each Wednesday during Lockdown Rev Donald will lead a brief moment at 10pm live on Facebook (at the Church FaceBook page) with a reflection, prayer, the Lord’s Prayer and a traditional evening prayer taken from the Office of Compline
Compline is a traditional time of evening prayer at the completion of the day dating from as early as the 6th Century
The Lord’s Prayer
The Lord’s Prayer is used in many different languages and forms. At the Lord’s Prayer Words website you can find some of the different forms.
This is the traditional form as appears in the King James Version of the Bible and usually used in Strontian, Ardgour and Morvern
Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done in earth,as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen.
A traditional evening song form Compline…
A traditional evening prayer
Be present O merciful God
Protect us through the silent hours of this night,
So that we who are wearied by the
Changes and chances of this fleeting world
May repose upon your eternal changelessness
Though Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
