A Challenge for Palm Sunday
Could you make some Palm branches to wave on Palm Sunday?
You’ll find some ideas if you Google Make Palm Branches
Then make a wee video of you waving the branches, and singing and shouting… “Hosanna” or “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord”. And think of the other noises that there would have been on that day when Jesus rode into Jerusalem… the donkey… the swishing of the cloaks and the cheers of the crowds… anything else… so add these noises to your video…
Then email to firstname.lastname@example.org including the words “I give permission for this video to be used in Sunday Worship on 5th April, and published on the AKSM.org.uk web site and social media”
I look forward to seeing your Palm Sunday Videos!
Sunday School at home 5th April – Palm Sunday (Matthew 21:1-11)
Thanks to Emily at the Abernethy Outdoor Centre for providing these Sunday School at home notes…
You could start by watching and dancing along to this!
Opening: Welcoming People
How do you get ready for people coming to stay? What are some things that you might do (tidy up/sort out their bedroom/bake a cake/make a special sign?)
If children are a bit older you could think about how would you welcome a celebrity – roll out the red carpet etc.
Today we are looking at a story when Jesus was welcomed into a new place by LOTS of people.
Story – Two Donkeys – From Spill the Beans. You could also use the powerpoint presentation to help tell the story – https://www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/t-t-19242-palm-sunday-story-powerpoint (you can sign up for FREE with the code UKTWINKLHELPS)
• A male donkey is called a Jack. Can you find out what a female donkey is called?
This day is often called Palm Sunday. • Can you find out why?
If Jesus was coming to visit us today how would we welcome him?
Other Activities – If you have a printer there is also a palm Sunday wordsearch and some colouring sheets here:
If not try this link for some online colouring
Or see if you can draw a picture of what you think it was like when Jesus arrived in Jerusalem!
Prayer – You could spend some time praying together – you could thank God for special people who you enjoy spending time with. You could think of some reasons people might have been excited to see Jesus and say thank you to God for what Jesus is like.
